Oscars B.S.

Ok, people, can I finally say what every reasonable person must be thinking?!I hate the fact that lately, The Academy Awards have been transformed into some political prize, a stage that serves some frustrated individuals into coming out (of the closet...), and making their statements, most of the time political. How can we accept that?! How can movies such as SLUMDOG (FRIGGIN') MILLIONAIRE and MILK win the Oscars?!?! Did we all go mad?! Did the world turned upside down and I might be the only that did not realize this?!Why can't we recognize real talent and art when we see them? Is it because we have some distorted chip placed somewhere else instead of its natural "motherboard"- The BRAIN??? Now, let me relieve myself by writing a bit more about this "masterpiece" of cinematography...Slumdog Millionaire...1. Since when did Hollywood became Bollywood?!?!?! 2. Really artistic that moment in the movie when Jamal falls into the pitt full of S.H.I.T !!!! I guess that that might have been the real cause behind his winning the contest, and knowing all the answers...3. How can a movie that starts with violence and torture, for God sake, end with a happy Bollywood dance?!?!?!4. Do you know that the budget for this movie was under 15 million $, and up till now it has brought a gross revenue of 10 times that sum?! And for sure, it is not going to stop here...Wait till the DVD will come out- then, all the Indians (and not only...), will want to have such a "masterpiece" of a movie into their collection...so...more money for good old SAM!!! God, this recession thing is GOOOOOOOD!5. If that was not enough...just take a look at what the child actors made, in terms of money..."Child actorsAccording to the UK newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, Azharuddin Ismail (who played Salim as a child) was paid £1,700 and Rubina Ali (who played Latika as a child) £500 for a month’s work on the film. The child actors continue to live in makeshift shacks in the slums of Bandra, a suburb of Mumbai, according to the Telegraph[115] and ABC News.[116] The Telegraph also reports that Ismail's home has been demolished by the local authorities and he now sleeps under a sheet of plastic tarpaulin with his father Mohammed Ismail, who suffers from tuberculosis. A Fox Searchlight spokesman has responded that for their one-month work on the film, the child actors were paid three times the amount of an average annual salary for an adult living in their neighborhood.[115]" 6. Last but not least- the big question: HOW IS THIS MOVIE GOING TO CHANGE THE CRUEL REALITY OF LIFE IN INDIA??? How is it going to improve living conditions in the slums??? Can we laugh and dance just like those poor, poor ignorant people at the end of it? Definitely NO. We would be totally insane to do so. Because the sad truth remains...nothing changes life there. :(
